It took a bit of time for the WWE Draft to receive a clearer time frame as to when this year’s rendition could occur, but WWE finally got there, possibily.
Dave Meltzer writes in his most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Draft initially was planned for October but was being considered getting bumped up to August because the company realizes changes need to be made to its product. However, planning it for August would in turn would mess up plans for SummerSlam so it was pushed to September. The talk last week was that it was moved back to August, but that changed once more with WWE announcing Payback for later in the month. According to Meltzer, as it stands right now, the Draft is set to take place in October, but Meltzer does make note that the situation, as always, is fluid.
Last year’s WWE Draft took place over the course of the second week in October which happened to be six months after the company implement a “Superstar Shake-Up” that past April, along with introducing a “Wild Card Rule” that would allow four talents from each show to make an appearance on the rival brand.
