The highly anticipated Dark Side of the Ring episode on the final days of Owen Hart aired on Vice on Tuesday night.
Around the last two minutes of the documentary, Owen’s son, Oje, commented on how he wouldn’t let WWE induct Owen into their Hall of Fame due to his tragic death after falling from the ceiling to the ring during the Over The Edge 1999 pay-per-view event.
Owens’ wife, Martha, has been adamant about not letting WWE induct Owen into the Hall of Fame as well.
Oje stated, “I would never let WWE put his name on a piece of silver and say that they got that.”
He talked about the Owen Hart Foundation and how it helps put people in homes in addition to helping single mothers let their kids go to school and how it was all done in Owen’s name.
This is how communities, this is how people and society remembers him. That is how we want it to be done. Yeah, he was a wrestler, but other than that, he was bigger than that. That was just part of what he was.”
