Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. recently spoke with Wrestlezone’s Kevin Kellam about her wrestling influences and what influenced her to chase this path that led her to All Elite Wrestling.
Baker has been one of the focal points of AEW’s women’s division, and she says it wasn’t as much of a childhood influence as much as it was seeing her peers in the Women’s Evolution.
“Instead of diving further back to the fandom as a child, more recently when I was training as an independent wrestler, that is really when women’s wrestling took to the forefront and really started this upward rise. The women’s revolution—evolution—that, for me, major influencing on that was the Four Horsewomen of WWE; Bayley, Becky, Charlotte, and Sasha. And I think all women today,” Baker said, “we have them to thank to some extent because, whether you like it or not, they had a huge role in women’s wrestling being where it is today. They fought through the two-minute matches and the 20-second segments. So, for them to kind of stick through it and keep grinding, that really benefits the rest of us.”

Besides a women’s title win, Baker said she just wants to put out a good product that is appreciated, and notes that the wrestling ‘war’ is one that all fans win.
“I just want us to be an entertaining – a fresh, a new wrestling program that everybody can appreciate. I hope everybody eventually has the same vision that we do. We keep saying it 900 times, we want to be an alternative for wrestling fans,” Baker said, “and competition is excellent for everyone. And if this is the so-called war that people are saying, it’s one that all fans win regardless because they don’t have to pick one or the other. They can pick one or the other. It’s a beautiful time in wrestling.”
