Vince McMahon Shot Down Batista & Triple H Wanting HIAC Match At WrestleMania

Batista recently sat down with Chris Jericho on his podcast to talk about a variety of topics and one of the featured topics was his match with Triple H at WrestleMania. Batista revealed that the original intentions he and Triple H had were for this match to be contested inside Hell In A Cell, but Vince McMahon shot it down. Batista said: “Vince, because of the pay-per-view, didn’t want a Hell In A Cell. I think that’s what makes it great. You have a Hell In A Cell that’s not at the Hell In A Cell PPV. We’re two older guys, we haven’t wrestled in a long time and we needed the drama and we’ve already got the history, so we just needed the violence.”

Batista would continue by saying “We planned to meet up at NXT to train and we ended up just talking. I took one of the guys who was up there, one of the trainees, bumped him around a little bit and got a little ring time in.”

He ended by saying they actually did not plan the specifics of the match until they were in NYC for the show. HHH told Batista that they are very familiar with each other and were going to play it safe at Mania. HHH told Batista: “We’ve been in the ring enough. We’ll plan it out, we’ll talk about it, we’ll go to Mania, we’ll do it there.” Listen to the complete podcast below.
