NXT TakeOver XXV was quite the show, and with a variety of extremely exciting matches preceding the end, the fans were more than ready for the NXT Championship match between Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole. After Cole’s impressive entrance, complete with a unique song by a rapper who joined him down the ramp.

Once the two superstars got into the ring, it was clear that there was no love lost between the pair, as they went at it almost immediately. With the fans cheering on, both Gargano and Cole put on an incredible show, with each superstar going through moments where it seemed as if they’d come away with a win. With Gargano nursing a leg injury as the match went on, Cole was able to gain the upper hand for a bit, landing some hard hits on the champion outside of the ring.

Towards the end of the match, it was clear that both competitors were exhausted, but both continued to give it their all. Cole and Gargano traded vicious blows to each other, with each of them landing a variety of kicks and punches to the head that continued to get the crowd riled up. By the end of the match, however, Cole was looking to finish things, and attempted to grab a chair from the side of the ring. With the referee trying to stop him, Gargano flew from theming, and knocked out the referee in the process.
After delivering a vicious kick to the head of Cole and having no one to count for the victory, Gargano went and got the referee, causing Cole to call for the rest of The Undisputed Era to come out. With no one coming out, however, it was up to Cole to try and finish the match. After trading submissions for a brief moment, Cole finally had his moment, countering an attack from Gargano and landing one final Last Shot to claim his place as the new NXT Champion.
