Tonight’s NXT TakeOver XXV began with a great match between Matt Riddle and Roderick Strong, which saw both superstars taking part in a singles match to get things going. Although the match had no real consequence, that didn’t stop either from going all out in an effort to take each down, and in the end, it was Riddle who came away with the hard-fought victory over Strong.

In a match that lasted for nearly 30 minutes due to both superstars consistently finding ways to avoid defeat, it was Riddle and his use of vicious elbows that finally wore down Strong. After locking in a submission to Strong and delivering a series of elbows to him, Riddle was able to stand up and land his new finisher, the “Bro Derek” to Strong, which ended the bout.
