Kip Sabian On The Impact Of AEW On ITV, Possible PPV In The UK, NXT UK Comparisons

All Elite Wrestling’s Kip Sabian took part in a media scrum following the AEW Double Or Nothing weigh-in at Starrcast, and spoke about what the promotion being on ITV means for fans in the UK.

“For me growing up as a wrestling fan, it was really hard, as we didn’t have an accessible way of viewing our wrestling. The only way we could view it was on Sky or a satellite channel that you had to pay for. I know a lot of people who didn’t have that privilege. To have [AEW] on ITV, is absolutely great. To be on the Buy In is absolutely sick for me, because all of my family and friends can watch that [on ITV 4]. I guarantee that after they see that, they’ll be on the ITV Box Office. That’s another big platform. Getting a PPV in the UK isn’t that easy. I guarantee that in the UK, AEW is gonna be right at the top.”

Additionally, Kip was asked about a potential pay-per-view event in the UK, something AEW talent and Tony Khan have addressed before. Kip says the fans deserve an event to call their own, and it would easily sell out.

“I’ve heard rumblings. Whenever The Bucks or Cody would come over to the UK, the fans would go crazy. The UK fans deserve something like this [a PPV]. With other companies, they’ve been neglected throughout the years. To actually put on a PPV in the UK would be huge. I guarantee that’d sell out just as quick, and for me personally, that means a lot.”

There are some comparisons being made to NXT UK and AEW. Sabian said it’s something he doesn’t like to do, but at the end of the day, it feels like it shouldn’t matter, and AEW is its own brand.

“A lot of my good friends are in NXT UK. I don’t like to compare. Obviously there’s going to be comparisons, but to me, the vibe that AEW is putting out is like—who cares what’s going on with anyone else? This is our brand. Even just being here at Starrcast, there’s that vibe. I have not experienced anything like this since when I was very young.”
