Big E Says ‘People Like Us Will Only Get So Far’ In WWE
Last night, Kofi Kingston was once again screwed out of a WrestleMania opportunity by Vince McMahon. Kingston defeated Sheamus, Cesaro, Eric Rowan, Samoa Joe, and Randy Orton in a Gauntlet match. The original stipulation was, if Kingston was successful, he’d face WWE Champion Daniel Bryan for the title at WrestleMania 35.
However, after lastly defeating Orton to complete the Gauntlet, Vince McMahon came out and issued one final opponent for Kingston to defeat – Daniel Bryan. Unfortunately, a running knee from Bryan was too much for the New Day member to overcome. Now, Kingston’s WrestleMania dreams have been squandered.
This morning, Big E took to Twitter to offer his thoughts on the situation. He talked about how “people like us” weren’t meant to stay on top of the mountain in WWE. He also questioned whether or not it was worth The New Day remaining in WWE.
Here’s what he had to say:
People like us will only get so far, that you can climb the mountain – they’ll let you climb the mountain. But as far as, getting to the peak or staying at the peak, it’s not a thing. People like us, historically, and moving forward, clearly, can only get so far. We’ve done a lot of cool things here.
We’ve been able to do a lot of cool things that we never would’ve imagined we could do, but, clearly, we are never meant to be more than this. And for people like us, that’s not enough. And it will never be enough. So, we have to sit back and think about whether, continuing to be gone for 250 days plus a year is worth it.
Of missing the family time, of doing this to our bodies. Leaving a piece of yourself in the ring that you can never get back. All the things that we give – if it’s worth it when we can only get this far. So we have a lot of thinking to do. Obviously proud of Kofi, proud of us as a trio, proud of what we’ve done. But if this is all we ever will be, I don’t know if it’s worth it.

Daniel Bryan Cleared For In-Ring Return A Year Ago Today
A year ago today, Daniel Bryan was cleared to make his in-ring return to WWE. Bryan was initially believed to have ended his in-ring career with the company due to his concussion history. However, after being cleared by several specialists recommended by WWE, Bryan was allowed to return to the ring.
He’s currently the WWE Champion and is preparing to defend his title against an opponent yet to be determined at WrestleMania 35. Here’s what Bryan Tweeted shortly after the news was made official a year ago:
Saying goodbye to the ring was one of the hardest moments of my life. But thanks to the amazing people supporting me, I was able to keep fighting for my dream. This moment feels surreal and I’m glad to be able to talk to you all at the beginning of #SDLive tonight.
