Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting via his “Wrestling Observer Radio” with Bryan Alvarez that the John Cena “injury” reported by WWE.com is indeed a worked injury to get him off the table for WWE Royal Rumble. Cena is set to start filming a new movie on Sunday and this was the way the company handled it.
Currently unconfirmed, Meltzer’s impression was that the original idea was to have a debuting Lars Sullivan attack Cena before the Rumble, thus removing him from the match, but with Sullivan not debuting yet this was the option WWE went with.
