Five NXT Stars We Want In The 2019 Royal Rumble Match

The following editorial was written by Tyler Treese and does not reflect the opinions of WrestleZone as a whole. We encourage you all to discuss Tyler’s thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of this post and follow him on Twitter @tylertreese.

I love Royal Rumble matches. They’re not only a time capsule of the current professional wrestling scene within WWE, but also a look at both the company’s past and future. From shocking returns to fresh debuts, the Royal Rumble match can show various eras in the ring with each other. One recent development has been adding NXT stars to the event, and with that in mind, I’ve come up with five stars I’d like to see in the 2019 Royal Rumble Matches.

Check out five NXT stars we’d love to see in the 2019 Royal Rumble match below!

Ricochet

Ricochet, a high flyer and talented technician, is practically made for these type of matches. Not only would it allow the current NXT North American Champion to get a few minute on the main roster, but he’d surely be able to contribute to some incredible and memorable spots. He’s one of the most exciting wrestlers employed by WWE, and it’d be a shame to not see him used.

Matt Riddle

Riddle is going to be a mega star for WWE. The former mixed martial arts standout has transitioned incredibly well to professional wrestling and he’s long teased that he wants to retire Brock Lesnar. While that won’t be happening just yet, we can setup another match down the line with some longtime veterans during the 2019 Royal Rumble match.

Mia Yim

Yim hasn’t made a huge impact on the developmental brand yet, but the veteran is one of the most talented members of the entire roster. Seeing her in the women’s Royal Rumble match would be an absolute treat. Matches with a lot of the main roster women are a dream for many fans, so being able to tease them for down the line would be a great use of her.

Tommaso Ciampa

The biggest heel in all of wrestling, “Tommy Entertainment” should be a part of the Royal Rumble whether he retains or loses his NXT Championship. He’ll likely find himself on the main roster within the next year, so letting him get his hands on some popular babyfaces would be a great spot. Let him take out some fan favorites before being eliminated late in the match.

Bianca Belair

Hopefully Bianca Belair will be the NXT Women’s Champion by the time the Royal Rumble happens. Either way, she’s clearly one of the best young talents that WWE has available. Letting her go against some faces of the past and then eliminating them, would help cement the fact that this is a new era for women in wrestling.
